This new ad seems to really be resonating with people, and who doesn't need a reminder that they're beautiful? I think it really underscores how often we (or even those around us) cut ourselves short or see ourselves as less than we are—and that extends into so many facets of our lives, not just physical beauty. There really is a difference between modesty and putting yourself down. It reminds me of something C.S. Lewis said—"Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less." If you're tempted to think less of yourself, remember Who made you.
While an ad like this won't make me buy their product (unless of course their ingredients
change), I can at the very least appreciate some of the underlying message... even if I do generally find typical "Photoshop is the devil" sorts of beauty
campaigns (which they've done before) to be a touch misguided. (Photoshop is a tool. Any tool used in a destructive manner becomes a weapon. Yes, even banjos.)
Follow the new board I started on Pinterest for more reminders of your own beauty and as well as the reminder to stop comparing yourself to others. Also, check out this article on Business Insider for pictures of what Barbie would look like without makeup! Perspective is an interesting thing. (So is neon makeup, but that's a different conversation entirely.)
